We made it home safely on Saturday, afternoon. It is certainly true what "they" say. It really changes your life. She was such a little sweetheart while at the hospital. However, our first night home was a little, no A LOT, rough:) Todd said he was not sure how many nights like that he could take. I told him he had no choice, but probably at least or 6 more - this week!! needless to say we were super tired on Sunday. We tried everything, but there was no soothing her. Fortunately, Sunday night was much better. At least she slept between feedings.
Herculez seems to be adjusting pretty well. When we brought her home, he had to smell, but that was about it. He barked the first time she cried, but now he is used to it. He just lays there like "oh here we go again!!" We are trying to keep up with his normal routine, so he won;t get too jealous. We took a family stroll around the park Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and Sam semed to enjoy the ride too.
Todd's parents and my parents were both here this weekend. mom and dad brought my niece Taylor over as well. They all went to the farmers market on Sunday and loaded us up on some really yummy fresh fruits and veggies and got a really pretty hanging plant for the front porch. They said the flowers down there were really pretty. Mom also brought us over some muffins and chicken. She went ahead and grilled it so we just ave to heat them up. Todd's mom is going to stock us up on his favorite tomorrow - green bean artichoke casserole. It is quite yummy. She is making a big batch for the freezer.
Sam is eating really well. When we left the hospital on Sat she was down 7% from her 7lb 6oz birth weight to 6lb 14oz. We had a visit with the pediatrician today and she was back up to 7lb 2oz. The doctor was very pleased. He was expecting her to be maybe 6lb 15oz. He said we can let her sleep longer at night between feedings. Hopefully, that will work well. other than that she checked out A-OK. Since she was breech, she will have to go to Children's, at 6 weeks, for a sonogram of her hips. We will go back next Wednesday for her 2 week check up. Todd will get to go then.
Speaking of - Say a prayer for Todd this week. He is back at work - a little on the tired side. We decided that was best since his mom is here this week helping out. He also has another 2nd interview at Cadburry Schwepps on Thursday - this is for a different job. Hopefully this will lead to something a little more permanent.
As for me, I am doing well. Surprisingly enough, my recovery has been great. Hopefully that will continue. Thank you all so much for your prayer, emails, calls. We really appreciate them and will covet them in the future.
Here are a few more pics of Sam. I have a few more that I need to get from Todd's dad of her home coming. Once I get them, I will add them. Also below is a link for the hospital nursery photo. It is too funny. My sister's friend, Wendy, made her a bow. It was a little on the big side, to say the least. We will have to save it for when she is a little bigger, but the picture was priceless. I just couldn't stop laughing long enough to take it off of her.
