Life as always has been so busy! I just can't find the time to keep up with everything. Where to start...
The beginning of July was a little bitter sweet for us, as we had hoped to be welcoming a new baby into our home. Octber 2009, we were so excited by the news that we would be expecting a new child in July. As most of you know, that pregnancy sadly ended in a miscarriage. We were devastated, but continued to trust that God is in control. In May, Todd was laid off from his job at Dr. Pepper. We could not imagine what would be next. His job search is going well, but we are still trusting that God has just the right job out there for him. So far he has had an interview with Dean Foods (a dairy company). Still waiting to hear back from them. Last Friday, Todd was flown to Chicago for an interview with Crown Imports. The job would be here locally. The next step in that job would be to interview with the local people. Next week he will have a phone interview with HP. Hopefully one of these will pan out. With the weather, Todd did not get back until late on Friday evening. Around 11:30pm we received a call from my sister. A friend of hers, knew of a little 3 yr old girl that was in need of a new home. She knew that we had been considering adoption, so called us first. While we hadn't really considered the possibility of adopting an older child, we quickly began to pray about it. We woke up Sat morning with lots of questions, but an odd sense of peace about moving forward. We continued to pray, and ask many of you to join in with us as we decided whether or not this is how God wanted to expand our little family.
The plan was for us to meet her on Sat, and then have her come spend a few days with us. On their way into town, their car broke down, so the meeting was put off until today. We hurried home and spent a long night trying to prepare for her arrival. We wanted to make sure that she would feel welcome in our home. Today we drove to Ft. Worth to meet her and bring her home with us. She is a very sweet little girl, and we truly feel that this is the right decision for us now.
There are so many things to do in the next several days, but for now we are focusing on making her feel loved, welcome and safe with us. If this is God's plan for her and for us, we know everything will fall into place. Please continue to pray for us and for Samantha, that we will adjust to this new addition, and for Ali that she will feel loved in our home, and that God would wrap his arms around her through this process.
Funny how God works things out. We are really excited about where road will lead us, as we continue to walk in FAITH!!
