6 Months Old

Sam turned a half a year old yesterday. I can't believe that she has already been here for 6 months. She is really growing and getting to be a lot of fun. We had her 6 month check up today. She weighed 14lbs 9oz, 26 1/2 inches long and her head was 16 & 3/4 inches. She is 25% in weight but 75% for height. Long and lean - she's a super model:) Developmentally, he said, she is way above average. What can you expect - jk:) She is still eating like a champ and can never seem to get enough. I was really surprised that her weight was not higher. Anyone who has seen her eat is shocked by this. The girl packs away the groceries. I guess it must be all the jumping that she does, or she just has a great metabolism!!
We have been given the ok to start her on some meats. He said the rule used to be 9 months, but now that has changed - just as starting with only fruits used to be the rule. Now you give fruits and veggies together. At 8 months she can start with some basic dairy, so for now we will try a little meat and see how it goes. It still has to be one something new every 3 or 4 days. She has probably tried a few things she shouldn't (like tortilla and bread pudding - bad mommy), but she enjoyed the tastes.
She is moving right along with the use of the sippy cup. I have to make sure I take food for her when we go out to eat because she gets quite jealous if she doesn't have something to eat. Last night we went to Scotty P's before our community group. I had food for her but it was frozen. She was not a happy camper. We had ordered the sweet potato fries. I decided to give her one since she likes sweet potatoes. She went to town. I only had my cell camera, but here are a couple of cute shots.

I wish I could have gotten video of it, because it was pretty funny. She would do great until she had gummed it down to her hand level. She couldn't quite figure out how to get the rest out of her hand, but she gave it a real effort. Finally she would drop it and beg for more:) We had gone out for Mexican food on Wednesday night and she chowed her food down in no time flat, and was still hungry. We did not have anything else, so we gave her the scoop of avocado that came with our fajitas. She was in heaven.
She is sitting up better and better everyday. She can scoot, on her back, from one side of the room to the other. Not sure why she is doing it on her back, but I guess whatever works for you. She pushes up quite well with her hands, and gets her knees up under her, just not at the same time. I am sure that will come soon enough. Boy how life will be changing then. She has the strongest legs. We just need her arms to catch up.
Now that the weather has officially cooled down, well at night anyway, she has been sleeping upstairs in her big girl bed. Oct 1 was a new milestone. She has been taking naps up there for a while, so it really wasn't anything new, but we were ready for her to make the move. She is doing great and has been sleeping better than before. I think she really likes the new bed. She talks to herself quite a bit. It is fun to watch and listen on the monitor. I am going to have to start working on dada, so Todd will quit saying she only wants me. She is getting very good with the mamamamamamamama.
We are waiting on that tooth to make its way out any day now. She has been soooo fussy at times this week and has been so happy to have cold thing to chew on. I think I am going to take Melanie's suggestion and freeze some banana pieces. Then put it in those little mesh bags and let her go to town. - boy that will make a mesh, but I am sure she will like it. He said one more month and we can start the cheerios ect, but she has already had a few - again - bad mommy:)

We also we out with Amy and the gang this week. Again - wish I had my camera. Here we sat - me and Sam, Amy and the triplets and Vickie at Two Rows. Of course her 3 were so good. Sam was the fussy one. It was close to her nap time, but we dealt. Craig is going to be gone for the next few weeks helping out on the coast. That leaves Amy at home all by herself to care of 7 month old triplets - God bless her soul! We are going to try to give her a break every once in a while, so she won't go stir crazy.

We have to get Audrey a jumperoo! She is kicking all the time. She's probably too young for it now though. I've never heard of the Baby Faith videos...they sound great though. Thanks for the tip! By the way, Sam is just too cute eating that french fry ;)
